[SG] Flee to Havana Night for Cuban Barbecue at Bob's Bar, Capella Singapore
Thursday, February 19, 2015
Have you ever encountered difficulties looking for a relaxed ambience to unwind with your friends after a long work week on a Friday night? After my first visit to the Chocolate and Tea Experience at Capella, I returned to explore their themed 'Havana Night' which offers alfresco dining on plush daybeds and sofas at Bob's bar while enjoying the sea breeze. Bob's bar is actually a Cuban-inspired bar authentically presenting Havana's golden era, the legendary nightlife, high society and tropical seafront.
With that in mind, diners can now enjoy an aromatic Cuban grill-out with Barbecue Platters starting from S$16++ and Bob's Fresh Pressed Mojito for S$26++ every Friday, from 6.30pm to 10.00pm.

Chefs at work - grilling meats outdoors
We were lucky that we visited on a breezy evening but if not, this icy handcrafted cocktail would more than compensate with its freshness. Mojito is a traditional Cuban cocktail originated from Havana that consists of five ingredients - Plantation 3 Star White Rum, fresh-press sugar cane juice, fresh-press lime juice, aquaponic fresh mint leaves and garnished with a freshly grilled sugar cane stick. It was a light and refreshing summer drink that goes perfectly with the barbecue skewers and was freshly made at an outdoor Island Bar on the terrace which also serves a selection of international beers.
Barbecue Platters start from S$16++ to S$19++ for single meat platters & S$28++ for a mix Bob's Bar Grill platter
A selection of five meats are available - Chicken, Pork Jowl, Prawn, Lamb and Beef, they were succulent, well marinated in fresh herbs and spices, and grilled to perfection where they paired perfectly with a spicy and tangy Jamaican 'jerk' dipping sauce which tasted like the sweetened black vinegar that is used to cook pig's trotters '猪脚姜醋'. Some Grilled Pineapple Slices, Havana Mango Rum Pepper Salsa, Garlic Bread and Ensaladade de Papas 'Cuban potato salad' were complemented and nicely plated on a wooden platter with the sliced meats. I loved all the meats that were served except that it would be perfect if the lamb portion had more flesh than fats, however I was glad that there was no gamey smell to the protein.
I'm really thankful that every experience I obtained at Capella was so exclusive and distinctive which have always met my expectations. We certainly did enjoy our relaxing evening with the tantalizing hearty meal and comfortable atmosphere whilst indulging in some Cuban music by the live band at the back, it definitely wouldn't be our last evening at Bob's Bar!
Overall Verdict: 8.0/10
